With the heat wave passing through Michigan we have started looking for fun ways to cool off. So far the guys in the warehouse have gone through 2 cases of icy pops. This was one of the videos we ran across that is actually safe to share. And besides it is just kind of funny. Time to go make an AC and drick some, well “sodas” to beat the heat.

In this episode of Viva La Texica members of the Slingshot team hit Texas Ski Ranch for a fun morning session before hours with the crew. After that they head south in the RV to Wake Nation to see what kind of trouble they can get into.

Snowkiting at easmanville farm

Tucker and Jeff made it out for a morning snowkite session today at our new favorite spot and scored some fun powder.  Tucker was riding the Rome Garage Rocker 154 with Rome Mob Boss bindings while flying a Slingshot RPM 14m kite.  Jeff opted for a Flow Era that was lying around the shop and a 2013 Cabrinha Switchblade 12m kite.  With knee deep powder in spots it made for some fun riding and an excellent time to test our our new snow kiteboarding spot at Eastmanville Farm that offers a large area with enough elevation fun to mix things up a bit.  While the hike back is rather long in deep snow, it is well worth the reward.  Be sure to keep your eye out for the obstacles at this spot.  It has trees, fence posts, and a large ditch that might posses a threat to beginners or an unsuspecting rider but most of the large riding area is clear of major obstacles.

12 films in 12 months.
A year in search of shred.
Different spots, different crews, different styles.
We don’t know exactly what’s going to happen, or where we’ll go.
But if it sounds fun, and it feels good, we’re in.

NathanP-sq-250The week leading up to the first major storm of winter saw great anticipation of amazing conditions from those of us that favor the strongest winds with the largest waves. Tucker and I were on it – monitoring the weather throughout the week and especially the day before. We made the call the night before, planning on riding right when everything would be at its peak. The forecast called for gale force winds with 20′ significant wave heights – prime.

On Friday, I was woken up by my house shaking from the winds. Given the 20-degree temps outside and knowing the water would be in the sub-50 range, I began to shy away from the idea of heading out on such a nasty day. We made a call around noon to back off on riding, only to make a go of it around 4. Tucker and I headed for the beach with a 2013 Switchblade 7 and a 2012 Nomad 7, expecting winds in the mid-30kt range. We were very wrong.
